Keith Whitmore’s professional photographic career started in May 1995 when he joined a photographic agency after graduating from the University of East Anglia, Norwich.
He picked up a camera at the age of 15, and had his first newspaper photograph published two years later in August 1991.
During his time at the University of East Anglia, Keith was a member of the team behind student newspaper Concrete, which won the Guardian/NUS Student Newspaper of the Year award in 1995.
In April 1996, Keith joined the staff of the Evening News, Norwich, where he spent the next eight years covering news, sport and features in the fine city, amassing a wealth of experience, covering all subjects and situations.
During his time on the newspaper, he was twice winner of the Sports Council East Photograph of the Year.
He completed a double win in 2000, clinching the Photographer of the Year title in the same competition and has also been shortlisted for the UK Press Gazette Sports Photographer of the Year.
September 1997 saw Keith add another string to his bow and embark upon a freelance writing career, specialising on photography matters. In the following years, his equipment reviews, business features and photographer profiles featured in the pages of the British Journal of Photography, Future Publishing’s T3 - Tomorrow’s Technology Today and Professional Photographer magazine.
Keith left the Evening News in April 2004 after eight happy years and has now fulfilled a long-held ambition by turning freelance, offering high-quality public relations, editorial and corporate photography.
